Sunday Walk: Centre Ville, Vieux Lyon

Sundays in France are peaceful. It's like the whole country takes the day off to just do whatever feels right. Sleeping in, going for a walk, preparing a meal, it doesn't matter, there's no rush.
I used to hate Sundays in France; Everything was closed. A real hassle when you need something. But today was different. I woke up relaxed. The whole mentality finally sunk in. I didn't need to be anywhere or do anything.
Free from all responsibilities, my half-awake brain told me what I was supposed to do with my day: go see Saint Georges Cathedral.
I had never seen the interior before. It seemed like a pointless but totally worthwhile mission.
With a relative destination in mind, I left my apartment (camera in hand) for the most roaming, idle walk I've ever taken.
I followed my street from one river to the next.
I explored streets I hadn't before. Meandered between shops. Read in the Fine Arts Museum's garden. Picked up some fresh chevre at the open air market.(1.80 for a fist full.) Finally I made it to Saint Georges. Inside the architecture wasn't anything special... but there was a service taking place. I was mystified by the aura produced by the incense smoke mingling with the sunlight, the smallest altar boys kneeling in front of a priest in the haze.
Pointless but worthwhile.
It was a great morning to say the least. Almost made up for this afternoon when I locked myself out of my apartment for a whole hour.
