Exploring My New Neighborhood... Le 6ème!

I've returned, like the Terminator as my former host father pointed out. Unlike Terminator, I am back in France to go to school. Not terminate things. Which is good because it's way too hot to seek and destroy. I'll admit my first 48 hours have mostly been spent in front of the fan. Something about my apartment being at the top of eight flights of stairs makes me not want to climb down. Mostly kidding but it is a lot of stairs. In fact, I don't even think I need to get a gym membership anymore. At least that's what I am going to keep telling myself. Anyways.

Even the heat couldn't kill the total joy and curiosity I experienced the first morning I woke up in my new abode. I made a point of walking around my new neighborhood, the 6th arrondissement of Lyon. The best part? My flat is like two minutes away (not counting the stairs) from the incredible and expansive parc de la Tête d'Or. I'm sure I'll talk more about that in the future but essentially, imagine a French central park.

While I've been before, It was a different sensation to wander the grounds knowing it's my new backyard. I could see myself coming to visit the museum of modern art in the fall, fawning over the newest additions to the zoo in the spring, and enjoying the blanket-thick heat of the botanical gardens in the dead of winter.

In fact, I have to keep reminding myself that I have lot's of time to explore. It doesn't all need to happen in the first 24 hours. School doesn't even start until September.

Here's to taking it easy and building a blog in the meanwhile.
